I came here with a friend for dinner. Staff was quick to seat us and take out orders, but the food took a bit long to come out. We had a rainbow and a spicy tuna roll. All of the ingredients were fresh and assembled well. The heat of the spicy tuna roll came through nicely. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, and prices were very reasonable.

Went here for a late dinner, got seated right away. Ordered 2 sushi rolls, not bad but nothing special. The pork tonkatsu, AMAZING- nicely breaded, tender and juicy well cooked pork, would totally recommend this! Also ordered the Uni nigiri, very fresh. They specialize in authentic Japanese small plates. Good spot. Would go again to try other items.

Definitely one of my favorite places to eat in Boston. Lunch specials are great, dinner options are quality as well. It's on the pricier side, so save up and enjoy a high quality delicious meal here! We grabbed a glass of the red wine there too which was absolutely delicious (don't remember the name, sorry!)

Excellent menu, super fresh fish, friendly staff. Lots of good options. Have gluten-free soy sauce if you're in need. Try the home made onigiri!

A little on the pricey side, but the quality is definitely worth it. Delicious, authentic Japanese food in a nice, cozy restaurant. However, I have to take a star away due to service. I have been to Shiki twice, once when our party was the only one in the restaurant and once during the busiest time of night with a full house. On both occasions, we ended up waiting longer than I would consider reasonable for service, and on the second occasion our sushi order was lost and we ended up having to wait much longer for them to bring it out. A strong recommendation so long as you aren't in a hurry.

Exquisite Japanese cuisine. The portions are small, and so in turn it can be pricey to get a decent sized meal. But they really do give each dish their best. Everything I've had here was the best I'd ever had of that thing. If they have the premium fatty tuna on the menu, try it. It'll melt right in your mouth.

I'd give a 4.5/5. food was good! I got this set with the pork (rice, salad and soup included) and it was pretty spot on. only thing I didn't like was really just the amount of time taken for the food to come, but aside from that I would def recommend this place to anyone looking for a pretty good Japanese around the area!

Best Japanese food in Brookline. Nice to come here for lunch for the set menus. Can be slow if there are a lot of tables and sometimes portions can be small.

So happy that such an authentic Japanese kaiseki place like this exists in Boston! They only serve kaiseki for lunch and while the plates seem small, the entire meal is very filling so make sure you come hungry! If you understand kaiseki at all and love Japanese food, you will appreciate this place just as much as I do - 5 stars all the way!

Shiki is a very good Japanese restaurant. The menu is quite extensive, ranging from vegetables to meats to seafood (including sushi and sashimi) to noodles and more. There were so many things I wanted to try, but I simply couldn't eat enough. I tried the takoyaki, ebi karaage, cold buckwheat noodles, sashimi, a squid maki roll, and the broiled chicken with sea salt. Everything was excellent. The only downside was the service which was incredibly slow. We waited about 15-20 minutes for menus, and after ordering we waited about an hour or more for the food to be served. But again, overall a great restaurant if you don't mind the wait!

A great Japanese sushi stop! They have a variety of lunch specials (the below was phenomenal and came with rice, salad, and soup), and the largest selection of sake I've ever seen. The atmosphere is just like in Japan, serene, with pleasant music, polite guests, and my neighbors spoke Japanese as well. The sushi was delicious, service quick and not rushing you out. Excited to have found a new sushi stop! Very comfortable.

There was this air of we only serve to the rich Japanese expat not lowly Korean like you from the main hostess. I appreciate authentic gourmet food cooked by Japanese not Americanized sushi by other Asians so I was happy there often but I was treated with attitude that I an not wanted there. all the rich expat eventually died out and now you have to serve sushi not authentic Japanese meals to Americans and suck up to each postings. I am happy to see you graveling to survive. How dare you to have expressed Japanese superior attitude only because I was Korean in the US.

From the moment we walked into Shiki the entire experience was extraordinary. This was the first time dining here. The service was friendly, attentive and the server was was well acquainted with each dish we asked about. The quality of every dish was excellent! I would highly recommend this restaurant.Chef Nick Schiarizzi Lecturer, BU School Of Hospitality Administration

Best Sushi I've Had in Boston Possibly best in America Authentic Japanese dishes served by Japanese people. If you're in Brookline and you want the best sushi look no further. I don't eat Uni sea Urchin however the Uni here from Maine is better than the Russian Uni you get in Japan according to my Japanese friends and U agree it's not disgusting at all. I do love Quail egg custards and they have them here too. The fish is extremely fresh as you would expect but most of all the rice is perfect. Most sushi places In the US don't bother to cook Japanese rice or get the seasoning correct too sweet, no vinegar wrong vinegar too much vinegar too much salt over cooked rice wrong rice etc. The Japanese never do this it's the corner stone of sushi. Otherwise you might as well be eating sashimi.

Portions are small but otherwise the food was good, however definitely can be better because of the price. The staffs were very kind and attentive. Refilled our water several times without asking 👍🏻. The only very memorable items were the ochazuke and the assorted sashimi plate. But even then there is a 20% chance I will come back just for those.

Tasty Sushi and excellent service. We went in right before the were closing and were greeted with professional courtesy. The only downside would be they brought out the appetizer, then sushi then soup..all in a span of like 5 minutes. Delicious food though! They just wanted to close on time! Can't fault them for that😋

Last dining experience was questionable. We ordered a lot of specials. The composition of the specials was very strange. The salmon was low quality and poorly cut. This applies also to tuna and the ika. On the upside : They have a good sake selection. From this dining experience, I would rate the restaurant two stars but in the past, they have been OK. Maybe a bad day....

If you want quality over quantity, this is the place you want to go for sushi. The sashimi was very flavorful and fresh. The udon was perfectly prepared and the soup was great. The atmosphere is very comfy, cozy, casual, and quiet. I highly recommend.

Yeah, it was neat. Service was slower than expected from a relatively empty place. They did accommodate my loud as all hell kids, and the kids liked the food. Reasonable prices, interesting menu, wine and sake list both hot and cold, and they even had a single beer selection if a rice lager called Orion (no relation). Lol

Good Japanese food in Brookline. They have small traditional plates different from what you may be used to at other Japanese places. Everything was of good quality and service was friendly. They make their soy sauce in-house and it had a nice, a bit sweet, taste.
